“I first met her during the war, in the summer of ‘42. I was shunned as a coward by the people of my village because I wasn’t drafted into the army like my friends, and she was a Scottish runaway searching for her father after he was taken by the Nazis. She was brave, never giving me false hope that we had any chances of coming out of this alive, but she held my hand tight. We’d run for our lives, we’d run until we reach the ends of the Earth.”

AU MEME: Doctor Who: Paris, 1897
While traveling alone, the Tardis crashes in the middle of Paris. As the injured Doctor climbs out, a young French nurse Clarisse (Eva Green) finds him and tends to him. Intrigued after the encounter, the Doctor stay in Paris to watch her, finding out she is actually of noble blood and volunteers to help the sick at the hospital, something the Doctor finds very touching. He reveals himself once more to her and asks her to travel with him, and she gladly agrees. They travel to several different worlds together and become lovers. He eventually returns her back to her own time, but comes back to take her with him again every now and then. However, Clarisse is killed on one of their travels and the Doctor is forced to rewrite time to save her life, erasing all her memories she had with him in the Tardis.

“Here we are, Ponds! Paris, the City of Love!”

“Doctor, you’re over 900 years old. You must have come here thousands of times.”

“More than you can possibly imagine.”

“But you never told us any stories about your adventures. The people you met.”

“Yeah, I want to know too. Did you meet anyone special here? C’mon, Doctor. There had to be at least one, right?”

“You could say that, I suppose. Yes, there was.”
